Plymouth Industries is seeking a CNC Milling Machine Operator to support our production team in Plymouth, Wisconsin. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling equipment to produce precision components used in custom material handling equipment, industrial racks, carts, lifting devices, and automation systems.
This position is hands-on and shop-floor based. The right candidate takes pride in accurate work, follows safe operating practices, and understands how machining quality affects downstream fabrication, welding, paint, and assembly operations.

Job Duties:
• Set up and operate CNC milling machines according to prints and job instructions
• Machine parts to specified tolerances and quality requirements
• Load programs, adjust offsets, and make basic edits as needed
• Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to verify conformance
• Identify machining or quality issues and communicate them to supervision
• Complete required production and quality documentation
• Perform routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
• Work cooperatively with fabrication, welding, and assembly teams to meet production schedules
Qualifications:
• Experience operating CNC milling machines or formal training in CNC machining
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic tolerances
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
• Dependable attendance and ability to meet daily production expectations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
• Basic CNC programming or CAD/CAM knowledge
• Forklift or overhead crane experience (certification a plus; training available)
Physical and Work Environment Demands:
• Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metal materials
• Standing and walking for most of the shift (8–10 hours)
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs. regularly; up to 40 lbs. occasionally
• Bending, reaching, stooping, and working with hands and tools throughout the day
• Use of required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
Experience:
• 2–4 years of CNC milling experience preferred; less experience considered with relevant training
• Experience in a custom or job-shop manufacturing environment is a plus
• Background in machining steel or structural materials preferred
Education:
• High school diploma or GED required
• CNC machining certificate or associate degree from a technical college preferred, not required
• On-the-job training provided for qualified candidates
